Processing of the Piasentina stone begins in our manufacturing plant.

The first step is the sawing of the blocks, thereby obtaining slabs of variable thickness (1cm-4 cm) and semifinished pieces (planks, strips, blanks).  In a second step, the semifinished products are transformed to more accurate cutting for “standard formats” and “custom cut to size products.”

Standard format stones are used primarily for paving of private homes, businesses, streets and squares of the city.

Custom cut to size Piasentina demonstrates the versatility of the stone, which can be used for various applications: Treads of a house, a kitchen floor, door and window frames, garden furniture, building cladding to name a few.

It's still a work made by hand

The machines are essential during the entire processing cycle, but Julia Marmi believe that some work still is to be done by hand.

Our attention to detail is the fruit of knowledge originated from our pre-industrial past and endorsed by our staff.

Even today, the tips used to affect the surfaces are tempered by our craftsmen who “know” the stone better than any machine.

"There is a definite timeline that marks the location of this unique material from the initial extraction until the stone is turned into a new shape with a new meaning."
